ELEMENTARY STUDENTS IN GRADES TK-5

Check in with your Teacher everyday, try to attend at least one Zoom meeting a week.

Log into each of your Learning Paths, Reading eggs, & Mathseeds every day. You should complete one Progress Check each week in ELA, Math, and Reading in edmentum and a lesson a week in Reading eggs/eggspress & Mathseeds.

Reading comprehension strategies for upper elementary kids:

  • Use Background Knowledge– What do you already know about this topic?
  • Make Inferences -Use clues to determine what is not readily available in the text.
  • Visualize- Create a picture in your head about what is going on.
  • Ask Questions– Think about it, before, during, and after reading. Either write it down, talk about it, or do it mentally.
  • Monitor-Check in with yourself, did you understand that or just read through it? Check in every once in a while to make sure you know what is happening.
  • Summarize– Do a recap when you are done. Make sure you can recall all of the important information. If not, go back.

Happy Learning! -Mrs. L
