Dear ICA Families,
Let me begin by wishing you all a Happy New Year filled with many successes and continued progress. During winter break, I hope you had the chance to catch up with friends and family and enjoy some rest and relaxation. I certainly spent some time reflecting on 2022 and thinking about the work and opportunities that lie ahead in 2023.
140 Days until Graduation!!!!
Respectfully,
Dr. Esposito

I sincerely hope that you all had a very Merry Christmas. Now, it’s time for the New Year! Welcome to 2023! Have you made your New Year’s resolutions??? Hopefully, they include doing well in school this semester. Remember, you should be completing at least one lesson per day per subject.
As your math teacher at ICA, I want you to take advantage of what I have to offer you in ways of helping you get through your math work (and hopefully learn something!). Each week on Mondays and Wednesdays, I have tutoring going on for all math subjects.
Please check your GMAIL. I send out notices weekly of times for subject specific meetings. Please join me on zoom for these meetings. Students that are placed in the Intervention class (because you did not score well on your Diagnostic test) MUST meet with me once a week. I will send the zoom link in your gmail each week. I am here to help you.
Have a great, productive second semester!! You can do it and I can help you!
Mrs. M. Ratajesak
The end of Semester 1 or the first half of school year 2022-23 is on December 15, 2023. All work must be submitted by that date! Failure to do so will result in an ‘F’ grade which will make it necessary to retake the entire course to receive credit towards graduation.
Do not allow this date to pass without all work being completed!
The State of California recently made it mandatory for a FAFSA to be completed by each graduating senior in the state of California.
FAFSA is an acronym with the full name being Free Application for Federal Student Aid. This is the avenue whereby students secure financial aid for post secondary education schools. The FAFSA form must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Central time (CT) on June 30, 2023. Any corrections or updates must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. CT on Sept. 9, 2023.
Even though you may not graduate in 2023; it is to your advantage to familiarize yourself with the FAFSA process at CSAC.ca.gov/AllIn.
If you have questions or concerns, simply contact me at bcrist@helendalesd.com or call me at 760-515-3933. I will be more than happy to assist you!
On December 3rd our Troop marched and displayed our national colors in the Silverlakes Christmas Parade. We saw many spectators that saluted our flag as the cadets marched by giving the cadets a sense of pride and connection with our community.
Thank you all for making our efforts worthy and the JROTC Troop want to thank our Veterans for their service.
On December 10th our Troop Color Guard present colors at the Bakersfield Hockey team’s game (Bakersfield CONDORS) at the Mechanics Bank Arena, Theater and Convention Center in Bakersfield. It was a great experience for all of us and we thank the Bakersfield community for letting us share pride in our nation and for watching a great and exciting hockey game (the Condors won).
This year we continue to reflect on our freedoms and our way of life as we try to come closer together as people of a great and wonderful nation.
We at Helendale School District are proud of the dedication and sense of duty that our Cadets continue to demonstrate in the face of academic and social challenges.
Among the JROTC’s primary goals is to provide Leadership and Citizenship instruction and skills to our cadets in hopes of continuing to build a cohesive unit that will participate in serving our community as they grow into patriotic, positive, and productive citizens.
We know how important it is for our students to interact and develop positive social skills and a sense of community and responsibility. We strive to help our Cadets understand and appreciate the importance of a value system that incorporates good morals, belief in oneself, community, and respect for our country and each other.
JROTC counts as an elective and or CTE credits and offers students scholarships and educational opportunities. We are looking forward to increasing our membership and getting more students involved. We are currently working on expanding our JROTC program to include other schools within the district. More information is forthcoming.
On behalf of the JROTC Cadets and ICA staff, please take care of yourselves and your families.
